Attedance: Horizon 2020 National Contact Points (NCP), funding agency staff, Horizon 2020 applicant support staff. Venue : 7th floor cabinet, Helsinki University Library, Kaisa-talo, Fabianinkatu 30 Date/Time : 11-12:30, 21 Oct 2015 Presentation: download via SlideShare Rationale: Open Science (OS) offers researchers tools and workflows for transparency, reproducibility, dissemination and transfer of new knowledge to market. Ultimately, this can also have an impact on in research evaluation exercises, e.g. Research Excellence Framework (REF), set to demand greater “societal impact” in future, rather than just research output.
From #OpenScience to #OpenInnovation: OS can also be an effective tool for research managers to transfer knowledge to society, and optimize the use and re-use by unforeseen collaborators. For funders, OS offers a better return on investment (ROI) for public funding, and underpins the EU Digital Agenda by measurably contributing to #OpenInnovation and economic growth, raising the science literacy of citizens, and inviting citizen scientists and garage innovators into the discovery process and new knowledge application (cf #ERAofInnovation event homepage).
Learning Objectives:The training session will be based on FOSTER`s "Winning Horizon 2020 with Open Science" and training content is structured around FOSTER Open Science Learning Objectives for funders http://dx.doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.15603.
The session introduces NCPs to why and how #OpenScience can optimize your Horizon 2020 proposal evaluation. The seminar will demonstrate proof of impact at evaluation from proposals submitted and evaluated in 2014-2015.
AGENDA: - What is Open Science & Relevance to EC Digital Agenda? - What is the Open Access Mandate, Open Data Pilot? - Does Open Science stimulate Economic Growth? - How to write “Impact” at proposal, with Open Science? - Positive/Negative results from 2014-2015 Evaluation Summary Reports (ESR).
