Open Science Trainer Bootcamp at RTU
Do you care about open science and are you interested to start organizing training events for researchers? Are you already delivering open science training but looking for ways to make your training more effective? If you answered yes to either of these questions, consider applying to attend FOSTER and RTU open science trainers’ bootcamp which will take place on November 1, 2018 in RTU, Riga, Latvia. 
 

About the Open Science trainer bootcamp
During an intense one-day programme, we will help you to become a better open science trainer and work on your training skills. After completing this bootcamp, you will be more confident and better equipped to provide training on open science to researchers in your institution or community, share best practices and advise them on the academic and societal impact and relevance of open science, and career advantages of making open science a part of the research workflow.
 

Who should attend?
We are looking for early career researchers, research support staff and other stakeholders in Europe who are eager and planning to deliver open science training to researchers and students.  
 

Application & Evaluation Criteria
Applicants should satisfy the following criteria: 

  • Currently practicing or supporting open access, open data, open science. 
  • Inspired by open science practices and keen to advocate the message to others
  • Delivering or planning to deliver open access, open data, open science training courses and workshops in their institutions or communities in 2018 - 2019. 
  • Applications will be evaluated by the FOSTER project team according to the following criteria: 
  • Potential to support researchers on open access, open research data, open science - 30%
  • Previous training experience or committed training events where open science is included - 30% 
  • Expected impact of future training activities and breadth of dissemination - 40% 
  • Geographical balance (to establish a good European representation in the selection) 
  • Gender balance (to establish a good gender balance in the selection) 
  • Scientific discipline balance (to establish a good disciplinary/scientific domain balance in the selection)

Each criterion will be given a score between 1 and 5 and the score will then be weighted according to the above percentages. In cases where applicants have equal scores, gender and geographical balance will be taken into account. 
 

Deadline & Timeline

  • September 30, 2018: Deadline for applications
  • October 8, 2018: Results announcement
  • November 1, 2018: Bootcamp
