This report discusses permanent identifiers (PIDs) as a means to establish persistent citations for archived files and documents.
The purpose of this testbed is to collect information about currewntly available systems for PIDs. The information is presented in a way that quickly makes apparent
what the pros and cons of a particular PID system are, particularly in view of the issues and requirements of the IANUS project.
