Pedro Ramos

Bio

I'm currently an early-stage researcher performing a PhD in Biomedical sciences with the aim to characterize socio-ethical issues around genome editing and the emergent technology of CRISPR-Cas9. 

I've been involved in co-participatory research activities concerning RRI and Open Science together with several stakeholders ranging from researchers, policy makers and funders. Moreover, I've been involved in the organization of workshop and other activities for PhD students to discuss issues surrounding topics on life sciences

My interests are devoted to public understanding of Science which goes hand in hand with scientific literacy improvement of civil society. For that, I've been also involved in the learning and use of several tools and ways to better communicate with the public (video-making, comics, presenting, etc). Furthermore, due to my involvement on my PhD project, I'v been actively interested in the communication between life science researchers and policy makers for the drafting of regulation and legislation guidelinesthat will ultimately influence public attitudes towards emergent biotechnologies.
