The lecture presents starting points for opening research data in Slovenia and the first steps that were alreay made in that direction. The founding facts of an open research data policy draft for Slovenia are briefly introduced. We introduce the roles and responsibilities of researchers, institutes, data centres and funders in the research data life cycle and talk about the future role of librarians in that circle.
